How do i display the top 5 most read news in a block i don't want to show how many hits just display the headlines of the top 5 news whith the most hits. Hope you understand.

Modify the news block changing ORDER BY id DESC into ORDER BY hits DESC

I have done this block quickly for a user here!

Not sure why these blocks arn't made into a release blocks are small ranging from 15-85Kb

I've created top blocks for articles, blog posts, guides and news

Was talking more into personal ones freaky or some others make.

Blocks are usually one file not more!
I was thinking why not putting in the admin Panel a area where you can Upload them to your server it isn't a big think to do!
the plus point is that you can put only the blocks you want, and it will be simple to load. (don't have to go via FTP.)

This will surely make it easier than modify inc_modrewrite and .htaccess

With hooks you doesn't need to modify the inc_modrewrite.php anymore, but the .htaccess is another problem. There is the possibility to load rewrite urls from MySQL (this would be great), but not all hosters support it

Personally i don't have a huge or useful knowledge with htaccess and Moderewrite (have to start reading stuff about this )! nut this would be very interesting and would be one more big Pluss point on your Portal !
