I have installed the Guestbook addon to my site. However I am being spammed with zillions of spams everyday. People selling everythig from viagara to other crap on our guestbook. I guess most of them are using proxy servers to hide their address. I want to be able to ban or block these spams...I have not seen anything in the code of the guestbook page that indicates any connection to the ban list from db. Has anybody done this before? can you point anywhere in the code where bann list is being used so that I can implement it myself (I am not that strong in php so reusing code would be helpful).

2)no, no graphic check is not enabled. But I am not allowing any user to signup or anything. I have just added the guestbook add on for anonymous users.

furthermore...I have disabled it from the menu (due to profanity that ppl were spaming into the guestbook) so you cannot reach it from the main site

You answered by yourself, that's the reason of the spam

ok, this way we introdce the graphic element to cut of all automatic spams...which is great! But if I want to ban someone..will the graphic check, check also against the ban list in memht_banned table?

if you ban someone, he will not be able to open the whole site, not only the guestbook

hmm..that doesnt seem to work though...we have bsnned ip's that have been leaving guestbook entries...any ideas?

probably he uses proxies and change ip's

my suggestion is to enable the captcha, there is no other solution
