Deleting files when updating the CMS
#post7682
Hello MeM,

As far as I know, the automatic update from the MemHT CMS only creates and updates tables.

If I compare 3.7.5 with 3.8.1 (and check the changelog) then I can see that files are added, changed and deleted. When updating the system all 'deleted' files stay in the CMS and thus the system get filled with files that aren't needed anymore.

It would be nice if 'deleted' files would be deleted automatically when updating from one version to the other.

The release changes is there to be read by someone.

If i delete automaically files with the installer, i would need writing permissions in the entire site (i hope you understand that this is a serious security risk). I know almost nobody reads readme and changes files, but i'm not a wizard, even if your idea is very good, it's not recommended Smile

MeM, I understand the security risk (forgot about that). Anyway, maybe it's best do it manually. I'm just someone who likes neat and tidy code and also a clean (file)system.

I don't like 'deleted' files to exist on the system, after a few updates you have lot's of pages with code that isn't used anymore. Besides the deleted files I still need to manually adjust files like .htaccess and inc_modrewrite.php for the addons that I've installed.

Thanks for your comment on this and forget my idea Smile

I know you have to modify manually .htaccess but at the moment i have no solutions about that because it cannot read in the mysql and acquire addons modrewrite codes hehe

Maybe as part of the install process, it can throw up a list of files to manually delete them.
