Date: 04/07/2008 20:18 Registering User for testing | #post9312 | First let me say, WOW! I just downloaded MemHT and so far very impressive.
I went through the General Forum first 10 pages but no luck finding my answer. My search did not provide the results I was looking for either so here I am asking my first question
1. After installing MemHT, I set myself up as admin. To test my site, I also wanted to add another member as a regular registered user (not admin). To do this, I registered from the front end with the username TEST. To my surprise, this member also had access to Admin control panel. I now have two usernames with admin privileges.
My question is, how can I change the user TEST privileges from admin to regular user. I looked in System - Users, but saw no option to change the member TEST to a regular user.
2. Will all people who register with my site by default have admin privileges? I have made no changes to my default settings. If all registered users have admin privileges by default, how do I change?
Thank you Edited: 04/07/2008 20:21 |

First of all welcome
ok so I will first answer to your secound question!
No! the user will be regulare User with no special rights (forum post, ect..)
and to the first question. I quess you went in the admin panel and then Administration, and from there you created a new user
vut here you only have to specifie the user with Admin panel rughts
if you want to create a normal user
example
username: test
password: iamatest
us just have to go in the admin panel
then System > users!
Hope you understand what I mean

Yes, I saw where you can add it from the admin area. The reason I wanted to add a new member from the font end, was to test my site just like a regular user.
Every script I use, I test it like I was a regular user so I know the user's perspective and to make sure it works properly.
But when I try to test like regular member by adding a new user from the front end, they have admin privileges. When I go to the admin area, I do not find an option to change the member's privileges that is added from the front end.
Is there no option in the admin area to change a member's privileges if you add a member from the front end?
thank you |

When you login as admin, you have access to the admin zone, independently of the user login, you can even be not logged as user.
Admins can be created ONLY from Admin > Administrators by you... normally registered people have an account with no rights like your here on memht.com
If you want to test the user account, logout from your admin account (admin > logout in the menu) and login in index.php?page=users with your user account, you'll see that you have absolutely no rights |

Maybe I try one more time to understand and explain with graphics below.
Thank you

If you want to check TEST or TEST2, LOGOUT DAN from admin > logout and LOGIN as USER TEST or TEST2
Privs are give ONLY FROM THE ADMIN ACCOUNT, NEVER AND I SAY NEVER BY THE USER ACCOUNT, N E V E R !
The user account is only a NAME in the CLIENT area, without any kind of power Edited: 04/07/2008 21:50 |
