How do you use the aggregator in system - admin

My settings are:

Page: Articles
Argument: Add-ons
Author: Filipina Eyes
URL: http://www.filipinaeyes.com/online-dating-blog/feed
Enabled: Yes

1. With the above settings, I thought the feed would show up in the Article section automatically, but it doesn't. I'm sure I have to do something else to implement it on the front end but not sure what that is.

2. Also, I don't understand the difference between Page and Argument in the settings.

Thank You

I already read that post on how to post...that is why I fill out my profile. I see other posts that just ask question and don't get such an unfriendly reply. I'm new, maybe I make a mistake. What did I do wrong?

I give you the following but I see others not do this:

The site url : http://www.sabarre.com

- MemHT Portal version: 3.8.5 (
- Host: Linux
- Installed addons and third party scripts: none, just want come when I install
- Of course, the error message: none, I don't understand something that is why I ask

How come I read many posts and never see others post information if it does matter to question. Am I being singled out? Want to be sure so I don't make a problem in future or maybe I'm not welcome here.

Ok hello and yes you are welcome here always!!

good first at all i dont understand well your question but i try to help you a little.

You ask the difernce between page and argument:

Page: is the section where you post information organized by you desire.

Guide
Articles
News
Documents
Forum
Etc.

In this pages you configure all the information you needed or you choiced to publish.

regarding the follow pages:

Guide
Articles
News

you can set categories, here is where you use the arguments, like a directory you organize your temes, some temes will be posted in each pages:
Example:

Page: Guide (you can rename like you want)example: Food Recipes
Then in Arguments section you set the list of temes to build a directory: example:

For Food Recipes (Guide) you create the follow arguments:

Salads
Plates
Deserts
etc.

Then when you go to create a single guide page you choice the argument apoint the teme exaple:

Argument: Deserts
and you set the name of the Recipe: Bannana Split
and all the content, images and tags.

in case of choice use agregator is the same thing.

in the other pages is the same procedure.

in the case of Documents you create the categorie and in the forum you create the temes, and threads as you like or you want.

I hope this little explanation will be satiosfactory, fell fre to ask allways.

Regards
Cylon

Hi

Arguments are Topics: Programming, Games, Health

Pages are pages Smile Addons: Forum, Gallery, Downloads etc.

The aggregator doesn't import feeds immediatly, it's executed by the maintenance class, so you have to wait untill it's executed by the system, maybe after 10 minutes like half an hour

Cylon - thank you so much for your excellent explanation. I now understand page and argument. Your guide was really good.

mem - thank you for your support. I read post about it taking 10 minutes. I wait maybe two hours but no results than I post here. After I post here, I tried clear cache and refresh and then it shows.

paulo89 - I still don't know what my mistake was, but I apologize if I post wrong. I will keep posting like everyone else, but if I do something wrong in my first post above please tell me and I won't do it again -- but right now it is not clear what I do wrong since I post like everyone else.

Thank you for your support. I now have courage to keep trying to make my site with MemHT

My site is http://www.sabarre.com (I think also in my profile, but maybe my link does not show up on the side of my post)

I'm using the latest version: 3.8.5 (I think my version shows up on side of my post)

I also put this information in above post in my reply to paulo89

No, I do not use cron. When I see it in the admin there was a warning that you should not implement if you do not know what you are doing so I do not change anything in my admin for this. I never use cron before.

thank you mem for a great program. I will keep studying it and hopefully can make a good site from it.

May I ask another question? I look in admin but could not find setting for how many threads of forum shows on home page. Right now it only shows one thread. I would like to show more than one thread like you do on MemHt home page. How can I do that?

Number of threads and forums cannot be customized.

About the aggregator, could you export and attach here the sql file of the table memht_maintenance?

I'm not sure how to export that...sorry. I will ask someone that I know maybe they can help me.

I already deleted the rss link from my site because I didn't care for it. Maybe when I uderstand MemHT more I will use it.

How do you get more than one thread or post of the forum to show up on your front page?

Thanks
