I suggest If you could make the gallery like any pro galleries.
I know it takes a time but I know that every gallery would use memht portal too.
I suggest to make available rating for sent pictures from users and to make available to comment them that would be fantastic.

The gallery remains as is, maybe a different gallery as addon can be created, i need the original to remains simple as is

I understand you you're right everyone shouldn't want it Im telling that how many sites i visited anywhere there is too many peoples that are searching for a script similar to [devianart dot com] I think memht's gallery is perfect for that it just don't have those addons that I just said upthere comments for pictures and ratings.
